The Idea
Problem
By 2035, global demand for lithium will leap 3X. The UK has no domestic lithium supply. As the automotive sector, supporting 800k UK jobs, shifts to EVs, this creates a unique opportunity.
Solution
Sustainably leverage Cornwall's lithium deposits through geothermal & hard rock projects. Developing a domestic supply chain will help address the growing supply gap whilst boosting employment in Cornwall.
Market & Growth
Lithium Market is expected to grow from 1.27Mt in 2025 to 3.90Mt in 2035 (12% CAGR) due to the increase in demand for electric vehicles and energy storage systems to support renewable energy projects.
Business model
Future revenue is anticipated to be from lithium sales to battery manufactures & automotive OEMs (focus is on supporting a domestic battery industry).
Competition
The UK imports all of its lithium, with China producing ~80% of global lithium hydroxide. A domestic solution reduces the reliance on overseas imports.
Use of funds
Funds raised will be utilised to bring the Trelavour Lithium Project and the Cross Lanes Geothermal Project to final investment decision ahead of production.
Customers
Primarily target auto manufacturers, cathode active materials manufacturers & cell producers, with potential for expansion into other industries.
